Finding Out-of-State Providers with BlueAdvantage

Updated: Mar 28, 2025

A benefit of BlueAdvantage is the "Traveler Program." We can think of this as BlueAdvantage member's being able to see physicians and hospitals throughout the country with in-network copays. However, this doesn't mean that every hospital and physician in the country would be in-network. A provider must be in-network for that areas BlueCross's MAPD to be a participating provider.

Use this link to search all providers. https://www.bcbsal.org/web/provider-finder If you search outside of Alabama a pop-up box will appear and ask you enter a prefix. Remember for BlueAdvantage the prefix is MBG and the network is either BlueAdvantage or National Medicare Advantage Network.

The video below shows you how to quickly do an out-of-state search.
