The Health Insurance Marketplace is where individuals and families can shop for and enroll in affordable health insurance plans. The marketplace was created as part of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and is designed to help individuals and families who do not have access to affordable health insurance through an employer or government program.

Through the marketplace, individuals and families can compare plans and prices from multiple insurance companies, and they may be eligible for financial assistance in the form of premium tax credits and cost-sharing reductions to help lower the cost of their monthly premiums and out-of-pocket expenses. To be eligible for premium tax credits and cost-sharing reductions, individuals and families must meet certain income requirements and not have access to affordable health insurance through an employer or government program.

The marketplace offers a variety of health insurance plans from different insurance companies, including bronze, silver, gold, and platinum plans. These plans vary in terms of the level of coverage provided and the cost of monthly premiums and out-of-pocket expenses.
